On March 17, 2020, thousands of couples saw their family-building dreams put on hold. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) issued guidelines in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic that called for the suspension of elective surgeries and new treatment cycles. Fertility Specialists of Texas adopted the guidelines, as well as the recommendation to cancel embryo transfers out of an abundance of caution for its patients and their pregnancies.
Although current treatment cycles have been postponed until further notice from ASRM, Fertility Specialists of Texas has continued its mission to offer help and hope to prospective parents through virtual visits.
Dr. Rebecca Chilvers, a reproductive endocrinologist, explains the telemedicine appointment process and the benefits of scheduling now.
