National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) is a time in April when members of the infertility community come together to raise their voices and support each other. You might think that COVID would make it more difficult to participate in NIAW 2021. However, last year proved that anything is possible with a little creativity.

Our Dallas-Fort Worth fertility specialists are here to explain how you can help raise infertility awareness from April 18 to April 24 without even leaving your home.

What is NIAW 2021?

This week is part of a national movement to change the conversation about infertility. People who participate in National Infertility Awareness Week want to remove the stigma of infertility. They also strive to break down the barriers that can prevent people from starting or growing their families. Speaking out and raising awareness are the keys to achieve these goals.

You can participate in NIAW 2021 no matter who you are. Our Dallas-Fort Worth fertility specialists believe that no action is too big or too small to help the cause. Here are a few suggestions to help you take part in this year’s event.

• Wear orange. You can show your support during National Infertility Awareness Week just by wearing something orange.
• Participate in a virtual Walk of Hope. Participating in a virtual walk (or hosting one of your own) can help raise awareness and money for the cause.
• Take to social media. You can help raise awareness about infertility and advocate for the community by using hashtags like #NIAW and #RESOLVE on social media.
• Share your story. There’s power in sharing your infertility journey with others. It can help educate and change minds, while being healing and empowering for you.

You’ll notice that this year’s suggestions for NIAW 2021 are activities that you can do virtually. This just shows that COVID can’t stop us from improving the lives of people facing infertility.
