When to See a Reproductive Endocrinologist — Learn More from Our In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Providers in Dallas and Frisco

When Do I Need to See a Specialist?

If you feel you need fertility assistance, it is helpful to see a board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist. While there are general time guidelines frequently mentioned as listed below, if you feel like something is wrong or simply want answers, you should consult your doctor or schedule an appointment for an evaluation.  Fertility Specialists of Texas offers a full range of treatment options, from the simplest, such as clomid and carefully timed intercourse, to the most advanced, such as intrauterine insemination, IVF or other complex treatments.

You may not need the more advanced options, but if you do, you are in the right place without  needing to see a new doctor. If you are concerned about your fertility or just want answers, that is reason enough to consider visiting with a Reproductive Endocrinologist such as Dr. Goldstein

Attempting to Conceive for a Full Year

For women under 35, if no pregnancy has occurred after a year of trying, a preliminary visit to a fertility specialist is recommended. If a woman is over 35, we typically recommend seeing us after about six months. Women over 38 should see a specialist within three months. Not conceiving for six months or a year does not necessarily mean fertility issues are present, but it does mean that a checkup would be a good idea.  Our goal is really education. We want you to understand if there is a problem keeping you from conceiving, and what options are available if this is the case.

Tubal Factor Infertility

If you have had a history of tubal problems, such as ectopic pregnancy, surgery on your tubes, or have had pelvic inflammatory disease, it is important to see a specialist.   If you have had an HSG or other testing which showed tubal blockage,  a specialist can help.

Male Factor Infertility

Another reason to consult a fertility specialist is the presence of moderate to severe male factor infertility.  Dr. Goldstein has extensive experience in dealing with male fertility issues and works closely with specialized urologists in the Dallas-Fort Worth area whose practices are confined exclusively to male  infertility.

A History of Miscarriage

If you have experienced a history of miscarriages, you may benefit from a consultation with Dr. Goldstein.  There may be medical issues present, and many of these are treatable. Of course, each person's circumstances are unique, and our physician and staff will help you fully understand your fertility health.

Irregular Menstrual Cycles

If your menstrual cycles have become irregular or have stopped, and you would like to start a family, a conversation with Dr. Goldstein may be the first step toward addressing your fertility needs. A menstrual cycle can be affected by anorexia nervosa, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and several other conditions. At our Dallas and Frisco fertility clinics, we have the experience necessary to determine the cause of irregular menstrual cycles, and how to overcome this challenge and have the best possible chance of becoming pregnant.
