Advanced Fertility Options

At Fertility Specialists of Texas, we believe in giving our patients options - as many options as we can to help them achieve their dreams. This section will provide you with an overview of medical options we offer, including IVF and laboratory techniques, as well as information on our donor and gestational carrier programs.

Clomid and IUI

Clomid is an oral medication and is often used as the first line treatment for ovulatory disorders or unexplained infertility. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is the process of preparing a concentrated sperm specimen for the most active, motile sperm and placing the washed sperm into the uterus close to the tubal opening. IUI when used in combination with clomiphene citrate (Clomid or Serophene) has been demonstrated to improve chances of conception compared to clomiphene alone.

Gonadotropins

Injectable gonadotropins therapy involves the use of medications that stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple oocytes each month. Patients who do not respond to clomid often find greater success with gonadotropin therapy. For example, some women have a thin uterine lining and therefore benefit from the use of injectable gonadotropins.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine inseminations are often used in conjunction with clomid or injectable gonadtropins to allow timing of ovulation. IUI is recommended in couples that have ovulation problems and are undergoing ovulation induction as well as having failed other treatments such as clomid.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

This is the most advanced treatment option and has the highest success rates. The IVF facility at Fertility Specialists of Texas is one of the most modern facilities in the country. Please review our section on IVF which details each step of the process. Our success rates are nationally recognized and we stand behind each and every IVF cycle with two programs which assist in the financing of this procedure.

Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis ( PGD)

PGD is used to screen for select genetic diseases and abnormal numbers of chromosomes. This procedure is performed at our state of the art IVF facility at Baylor Frisco Medical Center
